The taketwo team visited Ripley's Believe it or Not! At Ripley's you can experience the world's largest collection of bizarre objects from around the globe. Robert Ripley first displayed his collection at the Chicago World's Fair in 1933, which attracted nearly 2 million visitors. During the 1930's and the 1940's, Robert Ripley would give lectures in concert halls and theatres where people would come to listen and learn. In 1948, Ripley created a television pilot based on one of his radio shows. Due to the success of the pilot, it quickly expanded into a television series. Sadly, in 1949 Ripley died of a heart attack at the age of 55.

However, Ripley's collection of rare and strange artefacts lives on in this amazing attraction. Ripley's Believe it or not has over 30 venues in operation around the globe with more opening every year. Situated in the heart of the West End at 1 Piccadilly Circus, the exhibit starts off with an elevator that takes you to the very top of the museum.

Gradually, you make your way through the various different floors seeing such astonishing sites such as the tallest man, Robert Wadlow who grew to be over 8'11'' tall and the world's heaviest man, Robert Hughes who weighted 1, 069 pounds. Both of these exhibits have life size models of the actual people so the visitors can fully appreciate just how unbelievable the human body can appear. There are also interactive touch screens, which tell you more about each exhibit. They have a fun section where the visitors are encouraged to make funny faces in front of a mirror unaware of the fact that it is one way, so everyone on the other side can see you making these faces.

As the visitor enters each floor, there are many interactive opportunities such as models that activate by pressing buttons and live mechanical figures that appear to come to life when entering a different section. One of the most impressive parts of the tour is the display of the shrunken heads, which are real. This process of head shrinking was first believed to be a tribal tradition of religion. Originating from the Amazonian and Melanesia cultures, the process was designed to harness the spirit of their enemy and compel them to serve their new master (Shrinker). Ripley's have the most impressive display of Shrunken Heads in the world and they are presented in fantastic condition. A popular end to the tour is the vortex tunnel, which takes the visitor through a spinning sensation as they enter the tunnel, using mirrors and lights to create an optical illusion in the mind of the customer.

Overall, Ripley's is a fantastic day out for all ages; it has fun elements for children and educational aspects for adults who love history. The venue is open till midnight, so night or day it's a great experience for anyone. It costs £28.80 per person to enter, however you only pay for one when you the taketwo 2 for 1 London Voucher and Guide Book!
